Hickins’@ The Crossing Café
Kim and Dug Hickin moved from Dorset to Alston 5 years ago, Kim is a former Intensive Care Nurse and Dug is a former Royal Marine. Resident in Kirkhaugh they can see the train line from their windows and hear the whistle of Green Dragon as she passes.
Kim and Dug now run the Crossing Café along with a small team of dedicated staff and offer traditional home made hot and cold food all made to order. There is also a range of hot and cold beverages and the premises is licensed should you want a tipple with your lunch.
The café is dog friendly with a large car free park suitable for all vehicles, including a cycle rack to secure your bike. The Station has easy disabled access and baby changing facilities.
The Café is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10a.m- 3.30p.m (Wednesday close is 3p.m).

The Little Buffet Car @ Slaggyford
Regular visitors will recognise Kate and Adie, Kate for her sterling work in the Crossing Café in previous seasons and Adie in his alter ego of Chief Elf and buffet car staff member.
Now running The Little Buffet Car themselves, Kate and Adie will be serving a range of hot and cold drinks, snacks, traybakes and ice cream.
The Little Buffet Car will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10.30a.m- 4p.m and bank holidays too.
