Join us in fancy dress for a family friendly Halloween event.
No need to book in advance to ride on one of Halloween decorated trains pumpkins and skeletons galore depart Alston at 10.45; 12.15; 2.15 and 3.45
There will be a Trick or Treat den, will you get a goody bag? …. are you brave enough to do a trick? The resident witch might ask you to have a rummage in the “gruesome body parts” bag !
There will be spooky themed music on the platform including “Ghostbusters”, “Monster mash”, “I put a spell on you and “Devil woman”.
There is also a fun Treasure Hunt, make a Halloween bookmark and the Buffer stop café will have Halloween treats.
After the last train, meet guide Alistair Robertson of the Alston Townscape Heritage Scheme on the platform to join the free walk and talk called “The darker side of Alston”. Wear fancy dress and bring a lantern to add to the atmosphere as you hear all about Old Alston and its local legends and mysterious happenings, culminating with refreshments at the market cross.
