South Tynedale Railway General Manager Heather Palmer hands over a cheque for £400 to Donna of Morgan’s Dog Rescue.

Our inaugural Great Charity Dog Walk took place on Sunday 25th June 2017 and we were delighted to raise £400 for local dog rescue, Morgan’s Dog Rescue, based here on Alston Moor.  Morgan’s Dog Rescue provide protection for dogs that have not had the best start in life and as dog lovers ourselves here at the railway we feel that this is a very worthy cause to support.

The dogs and their human companions left Alston Station at 10.30am and waked the South Tyne trail for 3.5 miles to Lintley Halt and there was lots going on back at the station throughout the day including stalls from; Hi-Pennine Outdoors, Nadine Sutterby Art, Perfect Paws Dog Agility, Out of Step Canine Massage and Pennine Paws Dog Grooming. What a wealth of activities for dog lovers and dogs alike!

We are very grateful to Old Stone Vets who kindly sponsored the event.

Thank you to everyone who came along and took part, especially the dogs who were rewarded with a well-deserved rosette!

We hope to repeat the event in 2018 so look out for details here and on our Facebook page.
