Learn all about the rise, fall and rise again of this rural railway.

Our Discovery Centre explores the history of the South Tynedale Railway from its beginnings as the Alston to Haltwhistle branch line right up to date. You can find out about the birth of the South Tynedale Railway Preservation Society, the history of the area and the ‘Trials and Triumphs of a Rural Railway’.

Admission is free and while our older visitors immerse themselves in the exhibition our younger visitors can enjoy playing with our wooden train set.  Sliding doors, cinema and last panel

This attractive 1250 sq. ft. space can also be hired for meetings, training courses educational events and parties and includes an area where catering can be provided.
