40th Anniversary 30th July 2023!
It’s 40 years since Phoenix left Alston station hauling the first passenger train to leave Alston since the line closed!
And South Tyndale Railway Preservation Society historian, Steve Dyke, captured the moment.
We hope to have a proper celebration later in the year.
The STR Bear is back!
Join us for Teddy Bear Day on August 16th.
There will be a Teddy Trail at Alston station with 9 teddies to find and Bear will be travelling on all of our services with a free teddy for every child under 16!
Why not bring your own teddy for a trip on the train and maybe have a teddy bears’ picnic, or take something away from Kim and Dug at the Crossing Café or Adie and Kate at the Little Buffet car at Slaggyford.
Ticket price is the same as our usual Rover ticket price!

Booking for the 2023 Santa Specials opens on 1st June 2023.
Santa will join trains departing Alston at 10:30, 12:00, 14:00 and 15:30 on December 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th.
Tickets for these trains must be booked in advance.
Aged 0-2 Free Aged 2 and over £20
Dogs £2.50
Santa will have gifts for all those aged 0 -16 and all of our canine visitors too!
All tickets include a hot/cold drink and a festive nibble.
